Website Management

Updates, security, monitoring and backups, so a website problem never becomes your problem.

Nobody buys website maintenance because they’re excited about website maintenance. They buy it because of something that happened once, and they would prefer it didn’t happen again.

Usually it’s one of three stories. The site was down for a week and a customer had to point it out. A plugin update broke the contact form and nobody noticed for a month, so a month of enquiries went nowhere. Or an outdated component got exploited and the site started serving something regrettable to visitors.

All three are preventable. None of them are interesting. That’s precisely why they get neglected.

What’s included

Security and patching

Platform, plugins, themes and dependencies kept current, with updates applied on a staging copy first where the site warrants it. Most successful attacks on business websites exploit something for which a patch has existed for months.

Uptime and performance monitoring

Automated checks from multiple locations, alerting us when the site goes down or slows down. In most cases we’re already looking at it before you have noticed.

Form and conversion monitoring

Specific to us and, in our view, the most valuable item on this list. Your contact form is monitored as a working system, not just as a page that loads. A form that renders perfectly and silently fails to deliver is the single most expensive website fault there is, because everything looks fine while the leads quietly evaporate.

Backups that are actually tested

Regular automated backups, with restores tested on a schedule. A backup nobody has ever restored is a theory.

Content updates

Ongoing edits, new pages, price changes, staff updates and seasonal changes handled for you, usually within a business day.

A quarterly health check

Speed, broken links, redirect chains, expiring certificates, orphaned pages, and anything else that has drifted since last quarter. Small problems caught while they’re still small.

What this isn’t

It isn’t an SEO retainer wearing a different hat. Management keeps your site healthy, fast and safe. It doesn’t by itself grow your rankings, and we won’t present it as though it does. The two work well together, but they’re different jobs and they’re priced separately so you can see what you’re buying.

Who this is for

Business owners who would rather run their business than babysit a website, and anyone who has already lived through one of those three stories.

Common questions

What if I only need occasional changes?

That's most clients. Plans are sized to actual usage rather than sold as a large retainer you'll never use up.

Do you manage sites you didn't build?

Yes, after an audit. We need to know what we're inheriting before we agree to be responsible for keeping it alive, and occasionally that audit concludes the honest answer is a rebuild.

What happens if the site gets hacked?

We restore from a tested backup, close the hole that let them in, and tell you plainly what happened. Tested is the operative word: an untested backup is a hope, not a plan.
