About Get Seen Online
We've been doing this since before most people had heard the term "SEO".
Search engine optimisation, web design and the services that directly support them. Based in Adelaide since 2007, working with businesses across Australia.
James Whitrow
Director
James has spent more than two decades in the IT and web industry and is hands-on in every project the company takes on. Not in the "reviews it at the end" sense: in the sense that he does the audits, reads the data and makes the calls.
That matters more than it sounds. A great deal of agency work is delegated to whoever is available, against a checklist, by someone who has never spoken to the client. The results are exactly what you'd expect from that arrangement.
Outside the day job, James has spent years working behind the scenes in Adelaide's theatre and film industry, which is either completely irrelevant or excellent training for making complicated things happen on a deadline. Opinions differ.
How we're different
Three things we built the business around.
SEO is the whole business
Search, and the handful of services that directly support it, is all this business does, and all it has done since 2007. Nothing else competes for the time.
We keep up, deliberately
Search has changed more in the last three years than in the previous ten. We test what AI answers are doing to real results pages, we build on current tooling, and we drop tactics when they stop working instead of billing for them out of habit.
Reports you can read
Enquiries first, then the numbers behind them, in language that needs no decoding, and we say so when something hasn't worked. Ask to see a real client report before you sign anything and we'll show you one.
Our story
How an IT company ended up doing only SEO.
James started the business as an IT company in Adelaide in 2004, on a premise that was odd at the time: clients paid for a result, not for hours on a timesheet. That's still the idea behind our pay-per-lead pricing today. Clients kept asking how to "get seen online", so in 2006 we added an SEO service and sent the work out to a larger provider.
That went badly enough to end it. The service was patchy, the reporting was full of meaningless metrics, and the rankings sat still. In 2007 we stopped outsourcing and learned to do it ourselves.
By 2009 our own work was beating what we'd been buying, and the enquiries proved it before the rankings did. On 1 January 2010 we dropped everything else and became Get Seen Online.
Nineteen years later almost none of the technology has survived but the principle has: count the enquiries, and be straight with people about what's working and what isn't.
